Brandon Sutter a Dark Horse Opening Day Roster Candidate?

Allan Muir of SI thinks so:

With a lot of filling out to do, he's likely best served by another year in juniors. But a strong camp could earn him a spot on the opening day roster, at least for a 10 game look-see.

It would be fun as hell to see him on opening night against Montreal.

Can he play defense? There might not be a choice.

Muir says Sutter was a monster on the PK vs. the Ruskies. The rap on him used to be his scrawniness and lack conditioning.

He's skinny, but that sure doesn't seem to be translating into meek, it seems. It'd be great to see him here for a few games. But a full NHL season? He's just so young. Next season makes more sense.

But as the now famous saying goes - you can't go wrong with a Staal or a Sutter.

I'm OK if JR never takes a college-age American kid again. Love those Canadian kids. The college experience is over-rated.

Too bad we don't really have a spot for the kid unless someone gets hurt or traded. But maybe they will at least keep him around for the 10 game limit, (and then they can still return him to the juniors). Trevor Letowski would slip a bit further down the Canes depth chart..*L*
